Description

This is a culture of captive-bred albino yellow springtails.

They do well cultured on clay, substrate, or charcoal. If substrate, they like deep and moist soil. They’re supplemented with yeast, root vegetables, rice, and a protein source like dried krill or minnow. We’ve noticed more prolific breeding with a generous protein supply.

Ceratophysella can be cultured in their shipped container for many months after purchase. For best results, we recommend introducing them to a new environment while keeping the original culture in case of eggs hatching or tiny babies. To seed into a new container, simply add water then pour that water into the new environment. They can’t break the water’s surface tension and will freely flow, or possibly “spring” or leap along the way.
