Description
The Trachelipus caucasius “Yellow Edge” isopod is a hardy terrestrial species with natural brown coloration that blends well into woodland-style enclosures. Their elongated body shape and active, social behavior make them especially enjoyable to observe.
Unlike more secretive species, the Trachelipus caucasius isopod spends a significant amount of time on the surface, grazing on decaying plant matter and interacting with cohabitants. They tolerate a wide range of conditions and are considered beginner-friendly with proper moisture gradients.
Yellow Skirts are relaxed, friendly, and highly social. Their large size, outgoing behavior, and drive to forage make them a fantastic choice for bioactive terrariums.

Habits: Calm, relaxed, social species that loves to explore. When not actively adventuring, they tend to huddle together in peaceful clusters. They can’t fully conglobate (roll into a ball), but will hunch to protect their underside when threatened.
Husbandry: Moderate Humidity (40-60%), Well-Ventilated, Soil with Moisture Gradient, Offer Plenty of Cover like Flat/Cork Bark, Leaf Litter, Wood Rot, Limestone, and Seed Pods (Magnolia, Sweet Gum, Lotus)

Supplemental Diet: Fish Flakes, Dried Shrimp, Cuttlebone or Egg Shells, Sweet Potatoes, Carrots, Butternut Squash, Freeze-Dried Peas, Dried or Dead Insects, Zucchini, Cucumber, Commercial Food like Repashy Morning Wood
