Porcellio Laevis “Dairy Cow” isopod

Price range: $5.25 through $48.75

Dairy Cow isopods get their name from, you guessed it, a spotty resemblance to miniature cows. They’re powerful decomposers and prolific breeders with ravenous appetites.

Description

Dairy cow isopods make for an excellent starter species as they’re easy to care for and highly adaptable. This is the workhorse – workcow? – of the isopod world. Dairy cows are the ideal choice for cleaning organic matter from skulls and bones. They’ll make quick work of any creature.

Fun fact: Their clear bodies will change tones depending on their diet. In these photos you may notice our isopods were recently fed sweet potatoes and orange carrots!

NOTE: Because Dairy Cows are so protein-hungry, they are typically not recommended as CUC with a predator. They may aggressively nibble on shed skin, even as your snake/lizard/other is in the midst of that shed!
