Description
The Cubaris sp. “Snow Bee” isopod offers a beautiful twist on the Emperor Bee lineage. As a hypomelanistic form, Snow Bees display reduced dark pigmentation, replacing the typical darker patterning with delicate gray or lavender saddles over a pale yellow to creamy white body.
Snow Bees are naturally shy, reclusive, and somewhat skittish, preferring to remain hidden beneath bark, moss, or deep within the substrate during the day. They emerge primarily at night to forage and, like other Cubaris species, will most certainly roll into a protective ball when threatened.
This species thrives in consistently high humidity and benefits from abundant calcium sources to support healthy molts and shell development. Their specialized care and slower growth make them best suited for intermediate to advanced keepers.

Habits: Reclusive, skittish, and nocturnal burrowers. Prefers secure hiding places and will conglobate when threatened.
Husbandry: High Humidity (80-90%), Damp and Deep Substrate, Live Moss, Offer Plenty of Cover like Flat/Cork Bark, Leaf Litter, Wood Rot, Limestone, and Seed Pods (Magnolia, Sweet Gum, Lotus)
Primary Diet: Decaying Organic Matter, Leaf Litter, and Wood Rot
Supplemental Diet: Fish Flakes, Dried Shrimp, Cuttlebone or Egg Shells, Sweet Potatoes, Carrots, Butternut Squash, Freeze-Dried Peas, Dried or Dead Insects, Zucchini, Cucumber, Commercial Food like Repashy Morning Wood
